Birthday Party Checklist

3 to 4 Weeks before the Party

  • Pick a theme and decide if you want a formal or casual event.
  • Pick a date and time
  • Decide how long the party will be - most parties are 2-4 hours depending on the type of party and if it is a kid’s party.
  • Make your guest list.
  • Purchase your supplies:

Decorations
Paper Goods
Plates
Napkins
Utensils
Serving Platters or Trays
Table covers
Streamers
Balloons
Centerpieces

  • Place your order with Bears ‘n’ Buddies. Animals, outfit and any accessories wanted. Need at least two weeks for delivery.

2 to 3 Weeks before the Party

  • Plan and prepare your menu
  • Parties planned around meal time should include food and not just cake and ice cream.
  • Parties that are not planned during meal time can be cake, ice cream and beverages only.
  • Decide if you want finger foods, buffet or sit down type meal.
  • Remember that many foods can be made ahead of time and heated the day of the party.
  • Plan your activities – other than the Bears ‘n’ Buddies Hostess activities
  • Pick age appropriate games:
Remember that children under 3 have a smaller attention span. They don't always like to share or wait their turn and would be happy just sitting around playing with their friends and toys.
Plan on a few extra activities in case everyone wants to play more. Better to have too many than too little.
  • Send your invitations and be sure to put RSVP information and a date they should reply by.
  • Make arrangements for help for when the Bear ‘n’ Buddies Hostess leaves.

1 Week ahead of your Party

  • Get a final count on the guests.
  • Prepare a final list of the menu items, games, prizes and paper goods and ensure that you have enough for each guest plus extra.
  • Purchase food items that don't need to be prepared or can be prepared and frozen until the event.
  • Check with and confirm all orders for food items ordered for the event.
  • Find the camera or video camera and be sure to have enough film, extra batteries or charge your camera batteries.
  • Some foods can be prepared now and will hold nicely until the party - be sure to consult your recipe or someone who knows food.
  • Be sure to have extra batteries of all sizes in case the birthday person gets something that needs batteries and they were not included. Nothing worse than having something to play with and no batteries.

The day before your Party

  • Decorate... it will make the day of the party less stressful. If your party is outdoors then you should wait for the day of the party to decorate.
  • Some foods can be prepared now and will hold nicely until the party - be sure to consult your recipe or someone who knows food.
  • If your party is early in the day than you can probably pick up the filled balloons - check with the people doing them and they will let you know. Ask for high float in your balloons - it helps them last and fly higher.
  • Be sure to defrost items made ahead and frozen.
  • Purchase ice if you have the room for it in your freezer.
  • Use an ice chest or big tub to fill with ice and canned or bottled beverages.
  • RELAX... your almost there!

Party Day...

  • Have a cup of coffee or tea then go over your lists one final time.
  • Prepare the rest of the food and beverages.
  • Prepare the activities and the prizes.
  • Decide what to wear and lay it out.
  • Small children will need a nap before the party.
  • 10-15 min. before guests arrive - set all food and beverages out.
  • Be sure to take time out for yourself to rest and relax before the event.
  • Turn on some music softly.
  • Don't forget the camera...
  • It is time... ENJOY your party!

Fun Party Food Ideas for Kid Birthday Parties

Planning a kid’s birthday party can have its frustrations. Depending on the age of the child, you’ve got more than a few things to consider. What theme? How many guests? Where will you have the party? What kind of food should you serve? If you want to make your child’s birthday party a memorable one, you might consider planning a simple yet fun menu. Everyone does a party with cake and ice cream. How about serving your young guests delicious appetizers that they’ll ask their parents to make for their parties too?

Here are a few suggestions for fun party foods that kids absolutely love!

Pizza Muffins

1 can refrigerated biscuits

1 cup tomato sauce

1 cup shredded cheese

1/2 lb. ground meat, browned & drained

1 tsp. onion salt

1 tsp. Italian seasoning

In a muffin pan, place a biscuit in each cup, pressing until it completely covers bottom and sides. Combine tomato sauce, onion salt and Italian seasoning. Place 1 tablespoon of tomato mixture and 1 tablespoon of ground meat in each muffin cup; to with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 to 15 minutes. Let cool slightly before removing muffins.

Apple Lady Bugs

2 red apples

1/4 cup raisins

1 tablespoon peanut butter

8 thin pretzel sticks

Slice apples in half from top to bottom, and scoop out the cores using a knife or melon baller. If you have an apple corer, core them first, then slice. Place each apple half flat side down on a small plate. Dab peanut butter on to the back of the 'lady bug', then stick raisins onto the dabs for spots. Use this method to make eyes too. Stick one end of each pretzel stick into a raisin, then press the other end into the apples to make antennae.

Tag-a-Longs

1 box Ritz crackers

1 small jar peanut butter

Coating chocolate

Cover Ritz crackers with peanut butter and top with another Ritz crackers to make a "sandwich." Melt chocolate and dip sandwiches in chocolate until covered. Allow to dry.

Remember to have fun and involve your child in the party planning as well. They will love the experience and the time spent with you. Planning a child’s birthday party doesn’t have to stressful or ordinary either. Add some fun, personal touches to the event and your party will be a success!

How to Face Paint: 5 Things You Must Know Before Getting Started - Great Activity To Do At Birthday

Learning how to face paint can be easy and lots of fun once you know how. It’s a great way to have fun with the kids especially at birthday parties and special occasions. By learning how to face paint you can save yourself a fortune by not having to hire a face painter, but you’re probably too busy to go out and take a face painting class right? You’d rather learn how to face paint from home and that’s exactly why I wrote this article because before you start face painting there are some important things that you must know!

1. FACE PAINTS:

You’ll of course have to buy face paints, but what kind of paint do you buy? You should only buy/use face paint that’s specially made for the face and body. The most important thing to look out for when buying face paint is whether or not they comply with various authorities in your country (e.g. U.S. FDA.) within the guidelines for use on the skin. Water based face paint is the most popular and easiest to wash off – It’s used by people just starting to learn how to face paint and by professional face painters.

2. PAINT COLORS:

Start out with getting a palette that has black, white and the primary colors – red, blue and yellow. With these colors you can mix what ever color you need and this will you give you great practice if you have just started learning how to face paint. Then once you’ve started painting quite often you’ll start to notice that you’ll need certain colors more so than others. And you can buy these specific colors in addition to black, white, red, blue and yellow. E.g. You might find that green is a popular color so instead of constantly mixing blue and yellow together to make green you might want to buy a palette of green paint.

3. BRUSHES:

When I learnt how to face paint I used a thin brush for detail, a couple medium sized brushes and a large brush for larger areas. This combination of brushes worked really well for me and I recommend it to you

4. HYGIENE:

Hygiene is extremely important in face painting and something you must be aware of when learning how to face paint. Never paint someone who has: any open cuts or sores on their face, a cold sore or conjunctivitis or any other known infectious skin condition, a food allergy or allergic reactions to soaps, skin creams, etc without a prior skin test.

5. DESIGNS:

You need face painting designs and you can make up your own. But coming up with your own designs can be difficult and coming up with popular designs that kids will definitely love is even harder. And you ofcourse have to know how to paint all these designs. Thats why I suggest you find step-by-step face painting designs online because it will fast track you as a painter and make face painting really easy!

Philadelphia Tivoli teaches people around the world how to face paint with her popular ebook “The Comprehensive Guide to Face Painting” – it has 50 fantastic step-by-step photo designs and all the information you need to know about learning how to face paint.
